I love receiving new products from Tropical Traditions. I have tried out many of their different organic products over the past year. When it was time to pick a product to review this month I knew I wanted to try their Organic Shredded Coconut for holiday baking projects. Tropical Traditions coconut is made from organic dried coconuts that are grown in the Philippine without using pesticides. The coconut contains no additives or preservatives and best of all it is not sweetened or treated with sulfites to maintain the color. So what you get is just pure, delicious coconut.
Shredded coconut is perfect to have on hand for creating holiday desserts. I have already used it to make Halloween Coconut Truffles, and I am planning to use it in many other recipes too. It is great to use in desserts, since it is not sweetened. Most dessert recipes have plenty of sugar, so the last thing I want to do is make them even sweeter by adding sweetened coconut. I like to use the coconut in homemade granola bars, trail mix, and even add it to smoothies. If you are looking for recipes, Tropical Traditions has a number of very good ones on their website, and I am planning to make this recipe for Coconut Apple Bake later in the week. We have so many apples from our apple trees this year that I need to make lots of apple recipes!  Of course you can also dye the coconut as I did for my Halloween Truffles and then use it to decorate cakes or cupcakes.
You can buy a one gallon pail of Shredded Coconut at the Tropical Traditions website, or you if you don’t need quite that much coconut you can buy a 1-lb bag of Shredded Coconut. The giveaway has ended, but if you didn’t win you can still visit Tropical Traditions to get some for yourself.
