Apple Cider Turkey Brine

BEST TURKEY

– 1 Tablespoon peppercorns – 2 sprigs thyme – 2 sprigs rosemary – 2 bay leaves – 4 cloves garlic, minced – 3 cups apple cider – 1/2 cup maple syrup – 1/2 cups kosher salt – 1-2 cups ice – turkey or turkey pieces to brine

INGREDIENTS 

STEP 1

Combine all the ingredients except the ice and turkey in a saucepan. Heat until the salt dissolves.

STEP 2

Pour the brine in a large bowl and add the ice. Refrigerate for at least an hour until it is COMPLETELY cooled.

Never add turkey or any meat to hot, warm or room temperature brine!! Don't risk food poisoning, put it in refrigerator and let it cool completely.

IMPORTANT

Add the turkey pieces or entire bird to the cooled brine. 

Whole Turkey:  12-24 hours Turkey Legs, Thighs or Breast: 2-4 hours

Roast the brined turkey in the oven, cook it in the air fryer or on a smoker.

The turkey is delicious and infused with fall flavors of apples and maple syrup!
