Apple  Upside Down Cake

Apples are coated with brown sugar and baked underneath cake batter for a delicious fall cake!

Ingredients apples butter brown sugar cinnamon eggs vanilla flour cornstarch baking powder apple pie spice salt milk

Cook butter and brown sugar in a saucepan until the sugar dissolves. Cook, stirring for 1 minutes, then take the saucepan off the heat.

Put the butter and brown sugar mixture in a 13 x 9 inch baking pan, top it with sliced apples and sprinkle with cinnamon.

Use a mixer to combine the butter and brown sugar until light and creamy. Then add the eggs and vanilla and mix well.

Combine the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, apple pie spice and salt. Add to the butter mixture alternately with the milk.

Spread the batter over the apples in the baking pan and bake at 350 F for 40-45 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool for 10 minutes in the pan, then flip the cake over onto a serving platter. The caramelized topping will be sticky and sweet!
