Tropical Traditions is not only a great source for anything coconut on the web, they also have a great selection of healthy, organic foods ranging from baking supplies to spices to meats. I was recently sent a bag of theirWhole Golden Flax Seed, which is 100% Organic, USDA Certified.
Many people are unaware of flax seed and the benefits it can bring. Many studies show that the oils (Omega 3) and fiber components of flaxseed have wonderful health benefits. Omega-3 fatty acids are thought to provide benefits such as improving memory and help alleviate moodiness. A few years ago I tried to add Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids to my kids diet by having them take fish oil capsules. They hated taking the capsules, it was one more vitamin, and one more thing to argue over. But with flax seed, you can add it to food without anyone noticing.
Whole flax seed is works, but it is better if you grind it first, because then it is more easily absorbed into the system. I use my Magic Bullet to grind it in seconds, but a coffee grinder also works well. Usually I just add it in when I make smoothies for my kids and I. I throw a few tablespoons in the blender and grind them before adding the fruit. I also grind a few tablespoons and sprinkle it on oatmeal or add it into muffin recipes. It has a very mild flavor that is not even noticeable when you add it into a recipe.
The giveaway has ended, but you can still visit Tropical Traditions to get some Whole Golden Flax Seed.
