We picked the apples from our trees recently and got a good harvest this year. Our apple trees aren’t dwarf trees, so it is hard to reach the top.
First we use ladders to reach as many apples as we can. Teamwork is key since we throw them down to a helper on the ground. Once we can’t reach any more we move on to the shake the tree method. This works pretty well, unless you are not paying attention and forget to get out from under the tree before we start shaking.
We ended up with 75 pounds of apples this year, much better than last year. We don’t spray the trees, so some years the apple diseases are worse than others.
Now I just need to peel them and make applesauce, which is a huge project so I have been putting it off!
How fun. Love apples. Looks like fun!!
I am hoping to add a couple of apple trees to our yard next year. My kids and I love apples!
