Use the table below to select your desired pressure cooking time: (see notes for times in text form)
Set the Instant Pot on Manual mode for the desired time.
When the timer goes off, do a quick release by moving the valve to the release position and letting all the steam escape.
While eggs are cooking, prepare an ice bath by adding ice cubes to a bowl with water for chilling the eggs.
Ice cubes,
Cold water
Immediately add eggs to the ice bath and let them cool for 10 minutes - Do not skip this step. It is important!
Peel and serve or store unpeeled in a sealed container for up to 5 days in the refrigerator.
Notes
Cooking times may vary depending on your Instant Pot. I use a 6 quart instant pot for testing my recipes.
You can buy an egg rack specifically for steaming eggs in the Instant Pot. If you make them frequently, you might want to buy one.
The ice water bath is key to making the eggs peel quickly and easily.
Older eggs work better in this recipe. If you have a source of farm-fresh eggs, let them age for at least a week before hard-boiling them
Egg Times Table in text form
Medium soft boiled - jammy yolks - 4 minutes
Medium hard boiled - soft, yellow yolks - 5 minutes
Hard boiled - firm yolks - 6 minutes
Well done hard boiled - very firm yolks - 7 minutes
