I’m excited to tell you my son was selected to the Little League All Star Team in his district! Now I’m pretty sure the criteria for selection is “willing to play baseball in very hot July weather” and parent is willing to drive to never-ending games as far as 45 minutes away”, but being an All Star sounds good anyway. His team played 4 games, and finished with a record of 0-3-1. The first team they played was extremely good, and blew them out, but the other games were close and they had chances to win. By the time it finished they were happy that they tied the last game so they didn’t end up with a totally losing record. All the parents were kind of relieved that they didn’t advance to the next round of the playoffs, since the drives just keep getting longer the farther they advance. But now my son says he wants to play fall baseball. In the fall all the games are long drives again, and they play double headers every Sunday. So you have a 45 minute drive, a 3 hour game, a half an hour break, another 3 hour game and a 45 minute drive home. That makes for a long Sunday.
