S’mores are one of my family’s favorite summer desserts! Of course they are a necessity for camping trips, but they are perfect for a S’Mores Summer party in your own backyard too.

Last week I created this Backyard S’mores Bar for an easy weeknight family dessert. We have a very busy family schedule this summer. My daughters are home from college, but they both have jobs and are in and out of the house. My son is 16, and he is working too and is out sailing whenever he gets the chance. So when everyone is actually home for a weeknight dinner it is a special ocassion worthy of a fun weeknight dessert like S’mores.

roasting marshmallows

After all S’mores don’t have to be made over a campfire – marshmallows taste just as good roasted over a charcoal or gas grill!

S'mores ingredients

To make our Backyard S’mores Bar I started with the basics – Hershey Bars, Graham Crackers and Marshmallows. I found S’moreMallows at Walmart, which are marshmallows sized specially for S’mores. Then I added in some fun ingredients so that everyone in the family could add their own twist to a S’more.

Fun S'more ingredients - Gingersnaps, Graham Crackers and Lorne Doone

To use as alternate S’more bases I bought some Gingersnaps and Lorna Doone Cookies.

Special Dark Chocolate Bars for S'mores

For chocolate alternatives I got some of my husband’s favorite Special Dark Bars, and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. I also added Hershey’s Dark Kisses and Hershey’s Chocolate Chips. Then to balance it out I put out some shredded coconut, blueberries, caramel sauce and chocolate with hazelnut spread.

Once I had the S’more Bar set up we had fun making our own special S’more creations. My creation was the Blueberry Caramel S’more.

  1. We’re always running from activity to activity and I just love when we have a night where we can just enjoy each others company without the rush! We usually make our s’mores over our fire pit, but over the winter we took them indoors with the use of our stove . Your printable s’mores bar labels are so cute – thanks for sharing! #client

  2. Oh I’ll try one of each. We love smores a lot. But have no back yard, so I use the broiler. Not quite the same but works. That caramel blueberry one sounds amazing.

  3. This is great. My kids love a variety of s’mores – meaning that some like a full s’mores experience while others prefer no marshmallow or no graham cracker? So weird, I bet they would eat these up asap though!

  4. Hi…I want to download the blank marshmellow templates; however, when I click on the picture, it doesn’t download anything. If you have a printable link, can you send it to me?
    Thank you.
