My 15 year old daughter loves to experiment with her hair. She straightens it, curls it, puts it up in different styles and she enjoys adding color too. So I knew she would want to try the new Hair Flairs Color Rub, which provides a quick, temporary color for your hair.
The Hair Flair Color Rub is designed to give you a nice splash of color in your hair. It washes out in one shampoo, so there is no long term commitment and if you don’t like the way it looks it is easy to change. I received some bright blue color rub for my daughter to try out.
Since it is temporary color it does stain things. The directions recommend that you wear dark clothes and use gloves to avoid staining your hands. My daughter recently dyed her hair dark brown, so the color was a little more muted than it would have been against her natural light brown hair, and it looked great!
It only took a few minutes to streak her hair, and we had no problems with the color coming off on her clothes. It did come off on her hands some, because she tends to run her finger through her hair. You are supposed to use hair spray to set the color, but we didn’t have much luck with that.
My daughter wanted to show off her new look at school, so we tried doing the color at night before she went to bed. We found by morning the color was faded, so that didn’t work. She didn’t want to show it off badly enough to get up a few minutes early in the morning! I think the color rub is perfect for something like a party or special event, when you want to try something new and different. It washed out from my daughter’s hair completely in one shampoo, and seemed to fade out of her hair within a 4 or 5 hours. The directions recommend using a leave in conditioner to help seal the hair cuticle and act as a primer. We didn’t have any, so it might have stayed in longer if we had. We used very little of the color, so I am sure one jar will last for quite a few hair colorings.
