One of My Many “Do-Over” Moments

My latest Do-Over Moment was just a few months ago.  I have always homeschooled my children, until my middle daughter decided to attend public school in 8th grade.  She enjoyed school, but after three years in school she has decided to go back to homeschooling for her last two years of high school, mainly because she wants to start college classes early at our local community college, and that is easier to do if she is homeschooled.

New College StudentIn order to take classes at the community college she had to take a placement test, and because of their rules, she had to take it at the main branch of the community college, which is an hour from our house.  Inconvenient, but doable. So I scheduled her for the test, took her out of school early and drove her to the test center.  We got there early and waited half an hour, only to find out she couldn’t take the test after all!

Why not?  I forgot that she would need ID to take the test!  It never even occurred to me, and since she didn’t have a learner’s permit yet she didn’t have any ID.  So we had to drive home without taking the test, thus wasting about 3 hours of time, and way too much gas.

So two weeks later we had our do-over, and drove all the way there again, this time with ID.  But it all worked out, she passed the test , and is now scheduled to take American History and Psychology in the Fall.  It sure would have saved a lot of time, gas and aggravation if I had done it right the first time!

  1. So glad it worked out for you AND your daughter! It’s so hard to remember to have everything you need just to leave the house daily and you’re under so much more stress with tests. Glad it had a happy ending though!
