Summer is winding down fast, and my family and I are trying to cram as much fun into the last days as we can! Recently we took a little trip on our boat to a local resort town, featuring a beach, amusement park and carnival games. It is always more fun to go places on the boat, because it gives us a different perspective to see things from the water. For this trip we added in some Juicy Fruit gum for some extra summer fun.
While buying a few snacks for our trip I found some new Juicy Fruit Bubble Gum on display at Walmart.
It comes in two varieties, Juicy Fruit Fruity Chews which are packaged in a bottle to make sharing easy, and Juicy Fruit Bubble Gum. There are demos of this gum at Walmart stores all over the country in the next few weeks. The one at my local store featured a friendly woman dressed all in yellow, handing out samples to everyone that passed by. So check your local Walmart to see if they are planning some of these fun Juicy Fruit demos and score some free gum!
After I got back from the store we took our snacks and gum and headed out on our boat for our trip. When we reached our destination we did what everyone else does – anchored our boat off the beach for swimming.
Before we went in the water my daughters wanted to test out the new gum with a bubble blowing contest. It was not really a challenge, because my youngest daughter, Eleanor is not very good at blowing bubbles. So the contest mainly consisted of the girls dissolving into laughter every time they ended up with gum on their faces! But Eleanor did eventually manage one decent size bubble, which made her happy.
Swimming here is easy, since it is so shallow it is more like wading. The girls like it because they can cool off without getting their hair wet, and they even keep their glasses on.
Finally we pulled up anchor and set off to dock up so we could check out the restaurants and amusements. We were lucky and found an empty spot to dock right in middle of town.
We checked out the rides, but decided to just play skee ball and eat ice cream instead.
Then my girls wanted to go to the beach, and swim from the beach instead of the boat. It is the same water, but I guess they wanted to try it both ways! So they dropped their stuff in the sand and waded out in their clothes.
After a fun day enjoying the summer sunshine we went back to the boat and headed for home.
What adventures are you planning for this last month of summer?
