My son is testing rocks to try and identify unknown specimens for science this week. I have lots of labeled rock samples for him to test.
He correctly identified this one as graphite after he realized he could write with it.
He is testing for streak, reaction to acid, luster, hardness and magnetism, and hopefully learning in the process.
Are you doing any fun projects this week?
I loved doing that geology test in school. 🙂
What a fun experiment!
How fun! i would have totally been into that!
Shoot, I would like that NOW! So cool!
That was always one of my favorite class activities too. Hope he learns a LOT!

He reminds me of my youngest son… he loved science. I remember doing a this in Earth Science in 8th grade – such a fun experiment.

Cool! We just finished up Hunter’s science fair project. Which bubble gum will blow the biggest bubble?
That is a lot of rocks
That’s pretty cool. I would have loved a project like that in grade school.
That’s certainly a great idea. I admit I have been slacking in hands-on projects so I must add this to my ‘to do’ list.
That is neat!
