Having personal space is so important! we have a big house, but it seems like there is no place that is just mine, somewhere I can retreat to for some calm relaxation, to just read a book. We recently bought a new mattress and rearranged our bedroom, and it seems like the perfect time to create my own space in it, somewhere that can be my Mom Cave! It is fun to browse and plan a redecoration, just to get ideas and imagine the possibilities.

Here is our bed in re-arranged room, where it fits nicely between the two windows. Yes we still need a headboard, but that can wait, what I am more interested in is the space opposite the bed, between the bathroom and closet door. It used to have a dresser and a mirror, but we moved those to a side wall, so right now it has, well, nothing actually.
I’ve got an old trunk full of quilts, with the hooks from the mirror still in place, so it just looks empty and pathetic. I’d love to have a comfy chair or loveseat with a nice end table and lamp, and of course some wall art. So to find some inspiration I headed to the La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries to see what they have to offer.
There were lots of comfortable chairs, some of which were the recliners you think of when you think of La-Z-Boy, but many of which are not recliners. I decided I was looking for a more elegant, simple look, and not an overstuffed piece. That still left me with a large variety to consider, from wing back chairs to simpler designs.
I also liked this Chaise Lounge, which seems perfect for relaxing with a book.
But it does seem like a loveseat would be more practical, so I moved on to consider those, and fell in love with this Demi Loveseat.
I love the styling of this, because it is contemporary with flared arms and wooden legs. It is small enough to fit on my wall and still leave room for an end table or floor lamp.
Of course one of the nice things about buying from La-Z-Boy is that they offer an amazing amount of customization. The burgundy color on the showroom floor wouldn’t be best in my blue room, but they have over 900 covers available in both fabric and leather, so it is easy to find something that is perfect for your décor.
They have fabric swatches available at the Design Center, so you can see the fabric you are choosing and not just pick from a glossy picture.
Then I decided to browse through their selection of end tables.
I thought the zebra striped table was adorable, but probably not right for my house! The end table with drawers and a magazine rack seems like just what I would need for my cozy reading nook.
And I definitely would need something on the wall where the mirror used to be! There was plenty to choose from, including modern abstract designs or vintage travel designs.
It was fun spending an afternoon browsing through the La-Z-Boy Showcase gallery and dreaming about my Mom Cave. Even though my family has higher spending priorities right now I got some great ideas, and am going to do something about the boring blank wall in my room!

Ooh I love La Z Boy!
I would get so many things from that gallery!
Thanks for sharing the fun!
Ah, those would be nice, wouldn’t they?
Maybe one day you’ll be able to make that mom cave your highest priority and fill it with all that comfy goodness!
I love those chairs – so retro!
Love those prints! We will be moving soon so I’ll be browsing the gallery for inspiration and ideas!
You found some really great options! My mom cave is in serious need of an update.
A mom cave! Love it
I’d have a difficult time deciding between the chaise and the love seat. I love the idea of relaxing with a great book and a glass of wine on the chaise..hmmm…..
We absolutely LOVE our La-Z-Boy recliners. They’re the most comfortable seats in the house.
I love that chair on the right in the first group of pictures! Also, the pillows on the sofa (and the sofa itself). They have some really cute stuff now! I remember many years ago, when they were pretty much just known for their recliners. Now, they really have an amazing selection.
I love that chaise lounge. It would be perfect in my living room.
You are not alone! My husband and I have been working on bringing our home’s style out of the 80′s and our master is probably the last room we’ll tackle. I have, thankfully, enough room for a sitting area but, regretfully, nothing to fill it with! I love the pieces you discovered and they would all be perfect for creating my own space. Thanks so much for sharing your finds
