Cookie Christmas Tree

Every year my kids and I like to create a Holiday food craft, and this year we made a Cookie Christmas tree and decorated it with candy.

A plate with different kinds of candy on it.

The tree is made out of nested star cookies in graduated sizes which are then stacked up to make a tree shape.  I frosted the cookies with white icing to give them a snow covered look, and then used royal icing to secure the Sixlets and Shimmer Stars to the tree.

A stack of cookies with blue and white decorations.

Decorating the tree was a little frustrating, because the candy was so small.  We worked from the bottom up, and it was easy for us to knock a lower row off as we added the candy.  But we persevered, and the final result was worth the effort!  I love the clean look of the blue, white and silver candy, and this makes a great centerpiece for our dining room table.

  1. I would probably make something FROZEN themed with my granddaughters. Not sure what yet. Then again we may just eat the candy 🙂

  2. We are planning to eat it, it is beautiful and I crave chocolate and these would hit the spot, and I have 7 grandkids so it would be no problem.

  3. The candy would be shared with friends and family, there is always a few people who didnt get any christmas gifts at get togethers and this would be perfect to give to both children and adults. Happy Holidays!

  4. I just discovered these and bought some to use as decorations on my sugar cookies. I like the different shapes – a change from M&Ms.
