Summer is the time for celebrations. There are big celebrations like graduations, weddings and big sporting events. And then there are the smaller celebrations every family has, like when a child learns to ride a bike or drive a car, learns to swim or pitches in a baseball game for the first time. It is just as important to celebrate these little goals as the big ones! This summertime my family and I are determined to celebrate every goal and enjoy every minute.
This weekend our summertime fun goal was to beat my husband at mini-golf. This is a tough challenge, but my 21 year old daughter and 15 year old son were ready to take on this mission.
It quickly became clear that my son was going to be the main competition, and my husband pulled out all the stops to go for the win, including dancing on the course to try and distract the rest of us from our game. A last minute hole in one on hole # 17 pulled my husband ahead, and he ended up winning by 2 strokes! We will have to have a rematch soon though, and next time we will not let random bad dancing distract us.
Undaunted my son decided they should race go-karts, because he felt his smaller weight would give him a big advantage in the little cars. My son ended up almost lapping my husband, so he was very pleased with that result!
Here are some of the other goals we have for this summer, and we are planning to celebrate every one!

What are your summer goals?
Hmmm. I don’t know if we necessarily have any goals other than to have fun!
What a neat idea to make a list of things you want to do. And the first aid kit of sorts is a must. I have a big one I keep in my car at all times. It has come in handy more than once.
Definite must haves during summer fun because you just never know! Especially when you have kids!
Putting everything in a drawstring bag was such a good idea! I usually toss my sunscreen and first aid stuff in my purse, and I have a hard time digging it out!
I love this. Family time is always the right time and should be a goal:) Love the drawstring bag .great way to carry it all 🙂 Loved the fish picture. I still scream lol
Great goals for summer time. One of my goals is to spend less time working & more time outside!
You have great summer goals! Mine are to finish my patio and herb garden, and to spend time outside.
I love getting summer essentials at Walgreens. We just moved and as we were driving to our new house I was so excited to see a Walgreens within a 8 minute drive! Yeah! All of those essentials are definitely needed for the Summer fun we have planned.
I love how organized you you! Neutrogena is about the only sunscreen you can find in the store that I will buy. It’s good stuff!
We have a ton of summer goals this year, the best being we’re going to Space Camp as a family!
Looks like you all had so much fun!. Skee ball is my favorite. My summer goal to spend some quality time with the family camping and enjoying the kids summer activities. Not the most exciting but it will keep our summer jam packed for sure.
It really sounds like you guys are making the most of Summer! I just went mini putting the other week and it was so much fun. I also love how you guys carry a bag filled with just-in-case necessities 🙂
Oh my goodness, your family sounds just as active as ours… We love to stay really busy, so we have to always have things on hand, like the tylenol and neosporin… ha!
I love that these are all brands that my family also loves. Cannot go through the summer without them!
After 8 months of Winter, my goal is to make the most of Summer, do lots of things outdoors and have a ball going them!
I love the idea of a summer goal list. I am going to have to sit down and work on writing one. There are def places in our area I would love to visit.
Great summertime activities! Hope you get to do them all! I love each and every one that you mention. Except the water skiing. You would never get me out there – I’d break a leg. Tubing? Definitely! hee-hee 🙂
So ready for summer! Just signed my 4yo son up for t-ball and swim lessons so I can’t wait to watch! We also want to take the kids camping and hiking, to the water park, on a boat ride… so much fun to be had!
It seems like here in Illinois we’ve skipped Spring and headed straight into Summer already! Although it definitely looks like you and the family are making the most of the beautiful weather regardless-mini putting and go cart racing are always so much fun 🙂
oh, skee ball. totally making that a goal. i love that game.
