If you live in the Syracuse area I am sure you have already heard about the fun new attraction that just opened at Destiny USA, WonderWorks. It is an interactive indoor amusement park, which combines education and science with lots and lots of fun, and I can’t wait to try it out with my family!
The Canyon Climb Ropes Course is the World’s Largest Suspended Indoor Ropes Course. It is 70 feet tall, with 3 levels of ropes and over 81 different obstacles and activities including swinging steps, lily pads, a tremor bridge. My teenagers are dying to try this, although I am a little bit nervous.
Another exhibit that my son is looking forward to is the Wonder Park. In this exhibit he will be able to be a major league pitcher and stand on the mound and pitch to a major leaguer like Chipper Jones, Derek Jeter, Ryan Howard, Sammie Sosa, or Barry Bonds. My son has already decided he is pitching to Chipper Jones, he thinks that is his best chance at throwing a strike and not a homerun.
Mind Ball sounds fascinating to me. This exhibit uses bio feedback based on EEG technology. Players wear a headband with electrodes and relax their minds in order to use their brain waves and move the ball across the table to the opposing side. This same technology is used to help train Army officers to remain calm under stress!
Another must see is Wonder Coasters, in which you design a roller coaster and then ride it using the Wonder Simulator. The simulator can turn 360 degrees in every direction, so you can design as many (or few) upside down loops as you like.
There are many more exhibits too, like the Hurricane Shack, Anti-gravity Chamber, Space Zone, Fighter Jet and Illusion Gallery. In fact there are over 100 exhibits in all, so it should provide hours of fun for the entire family.
The design of WonderWorks is unique, because when you walk up it looks like an upside-down building that seems to have crash landed at the Mall. To enter the attraction you have to walk through an Inversion tunnel so that you can defy gravity and play with all the exhibits and experiments. It seems like there was lots of thought and imagination put into making this a world class destination.
This should be a great family activity, especially during the long, cold winter months. You can check out all the ticket pricing information on the Wonder Works website, and also Like their Facebook page, to find out about any special offers. I will be visiting with my family over the weekend, and I will post our experiences next week. Hopefully I will not chicken out about doing the ropes course, but I donâ€t know, it sounds pretty scary! What do you think, would you do a 70 foot, 3 story ropes course?
Disclosure: I will receive complimentary tickets to review the attraction, all opinions are my own.
They have one in Myrtle Beach and I didn’t have a chance to go but I’m going to make time next year when I go back. You make it look like a blast!
