We picked the apples from our trees recently and got a good harvest this year. Our apple trees aren’t dwarf trees, so it is hard to reach the top.
First we use ladders to reach as many apples as we can. Teamwork is key since we throw them down to a helper on the ground. Once we can’t reach any more we move on to the shake the tree method. This works pretty well, unless you are not paying attention and forget to get out from under the tree before we start shaking.
We ended up with 75 pounds of apples this year, much better than last year. We don’t spray the trees, so some years the apple diseases are worse than others.
Now I just need to peel them and make applesauce, which is a huge project so I have been putting it off!
As the song says, “I don’t care about spots on my apples leaves me the birds and the bees, please!” The apples are gorgeous mostly because they aren’t sprayed. I love me some organic fruit! I wish I could buy some applesauce from you!
That is really cool that you have your own apple trees. I want one. LOL. We pick apples but at the farm not the house.
Happy WW!
Lots of apple pies.
I wish we had an apple tree. It would be awesome to go pick apples instead of buying them!
LOL! You gotta watch your head!! 🙂
Apples. Yum. They look good!
I am so jealous! I would love to have some apple trees. We’ve discussed buying some saplings but never did it.
I’m thinking there are some laughs involved when a few apples hit unintended targets! 🙂
I love homemade apple sauce! Visiting from Wordless Wednesday. Come visit us and link up for our NEW Wordless Wednesday too!

How awesome to have your own apple trees! I’m sure they taste fantastic, organic is the way to go.
I love fresh apples!
Happy WW!
KAs
Yum!! We had quite a few apples this year too, they taste so much better fresh off the tree and without any added junk!
How fun! I’d love to have fruit trees but alas I think all the water to keep them alive would be against our watering restrictions. 🙁
You’re so lucky! I’ve always wanted my own apple orchard! I always tell my husband that if we ever win the lottery (nearly impossible since we don’t play) I’m going to buy a farm and plant apple trees!
Taht’s so cool – I wanna pick apples!
how fun! I worked at an apple orchard in high school – I didn’t have to pick the apples though.
How fun! I wish we had apple picking in Miami, it seems like such a fun activity!
I love “real” apples!
We lived somewhere for a short time that had an apple tree it was so fun!
