Garlic Scapes Spinach Frittata Recipe

Have you ever cooked with garlic scapes?  The first time I saw them I had no idea what they were, or what to do with them.  They are the curly top part of the garlic plant, and when they are young they are quite tasty. Around here garlic scapes are one of the first seasonal vegetables that we get in the spring.

Discovery of Deduction Logic Curriculum Review – TOS Homeschool Crew

Photobucket

Logic is a subject that I have always wanted to cover with my children, because thinking and reasoning skills are so important in today’s world.   I watch TV news shows and get so annoyed at the lack of reasoning and logical fallacies that seem to be everywhere, so I want to learn to reason!  So I was glad to get the chance to try out a logic curriculum from Classical Academic Press.  I received The Discovery of Deduction: An Introduction to Formal Logic and The Discovery of Deduction Teacher’s Edition to use with my 13 year old son.

Wholly Guacamole and Jennie-O Turkey Review and Giveaway

Jennie-O Turkey Jalepeno Burgers

I have noticed recently that most of the (non-dessert) recipes I post seem to be spicy and involve chili peppers of some kind!  This is because I enjoy spicy food and like to stay away from bland and boring tastes.  So it is no surprise that I wanted to review the new Turkey Jalapeño burgers from Jennie-O!  These burgers are available exclusively in Walmart in March, but will be rolling out everywhere next month.

Turkey burgers make a wonderful alternative to hamburgers, especially with grilling season coming up.  I don’t eat hamburgers at all, so I like to have some alternative I can bring to a cookout.  The idea of spicing up Turkey burgers with some jalepeno and Monterey Jack cheese is a great way to add excitement to a basic meal. Cooking with Mushrooms with a Recipe for Spicy Sauteed Mushrooms

When I was younger I never ate mushrooms.  My mom rarely if ever cooked with them, so I never even tried them. I didn’t start eating them until I went away to college, where all my friends insisted on having mushrooms on their pizza.  Let’s face it, college kids live on pizza, so I started having mushrooms all the time. Once I got over my irrational dislike of mushrooms I found they were delicious, and very versatile.  Now I like to cook with them because they are relatively inexpensive, and great sources of vitamins D and B.  They pack a lot of nutrition in each bite, and they taste great too.
