Gingersnaps are one of my favorite cookie recipes.  They keep well and have a distinct molasses and ginger taste, perfect for the Holiday season. This recipe is a family recipe that was handed down from my Great Aunt Tina. I don’t remember ever meeting my Great Aunt Tina, but that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy her cookie recipe!

I love to use candy in our Christmas decorating.  It is pretty cheap to buy, and lots of fun to craft with, especially for kids.  And of course it is always nice to sample a little bit as we craft.  These DIY Candy Christmas Trees are cute and easy to make!

The holiday season is approaching fast! My teenage daughter Eleanor made these thumbprint Christmas cards for a Christmas craft.

They are adorable, and only took her about half an hour to make from start to finish.  Here is how she did it.

Decorated Christmas Letters – Christmas in July

One of the projects my kids and I did during on Christmas in July celebration was to decorate Paper Mache letters. We decided to decorate the letters to spell out “NOEL”, mainly because it is short and sweet. We used 8 inch high letters and decorated them in a diagonal striped pattern with mostly muted Christmas colors.

They came out looking great, and we are thinking about doing “JOY” and “PEACE” next so we have letters for the whole fireplace mantle this Christmas.

Mango Jalapeno Ham Glaze

Mango jalapeno glaze for ham.

Christmas and New Year’s are just around the corner! I can’t believe how quickly the holiday season is coming up, and I am busy planning for holiday entertaining. When it comes to the holiday meals nothing is better than ham. It is easy to make, delicious, and serves a crowd at a reasonable price. This year I made this tasty Mango Jalapeno Ham Glaze for the holidays.

A ham glaze adds flavor, texture and color to a ham, is the perfect finishing touch for a nice presentation. The glaze makes the ham shiny and glossy, and it takes only a few minutes to achieve a nice effect. I wanted to use some different, less traditional holiday flavors for my ham glaze this year, and I decided on mangoes and jalapenos for a spicy and sweet glaze.

Stained Glass Votive Candle Holders.

These Stained Glass Votive Candle Holders aren’t really stained glass, instead they are made by covering the candle holders in colored tissue paper. But they look like stained glass, especially with a candle flickering inside them!

Stained Glass Votive Holders

These Faux Stained Glass Votive Candle Holders are the perfect Christmas present project! I bought the supplies for this 2 1/2 years ago, and then never found time to do the the project. I don’t know why we waited so long for this project, because it was very easy to do and not time consuming at all. We had fun experimenting with different colors of tissue paper, and making designs in a variety of colors.

Pecan Tassies

Pecan Tassies - Traditional Christmas Cookies with buttery crust, brown sugar and pecans

Pecan Tassies are one of my favorite cookies, for Christmas or anytime of the year.  They are like eating mini pecan pies, with a rich buttery crust, brown sugar and crunchy pecans. They are easy to make too, and much less intimidating to make than a pie.  Instead of rolling out the dough in a big pie pan you simple press little balls of dough into a mini-muffin tin, and fill them with pecans and topping.
