One of the best things about the holiday season is family traditions. We have many traditions in my family, and most of them revolve around ornaments or baking! When I was growing up this recipe for Danish Pastries was part of every holiday season. My mom always made them for Christmas, and every year we would eat them for breakfast on Christmas morning after we opened presents.

Thai Shrimp Noodle Bowl
I am participating in a VIN campaign for California Dried Plums. The opinions expressed in this post are my own. #CADriedPlums
California Dried Plums are a delicious fruit that is perfect not just for snacking, but for cooking too. I recently made this Thai Shrimp Noodle Bowl recipe from the California Dried Plums Website, and it was a tasty dinner that the entire family enjoyed.
The recipe combines the dried plums with lots of vegetables like carrots, red peppers and scallions, and tops it all off with shrimp. I shredded the carrots and zucchini and cut all the ingredients finely for an easy to eat stir fry, suitable for using chopsticks. I served it over rice noodles, and it was delicious.
Maple Roasted Carrots
I am always looking for new ways to serve old favorites, like carrots. While browsing Pinterest for sides for Thanksgiving I came across this recipe for Maple Glazed Carrots, and decided it would work well. So I changed it up a little and made these Maple Roasted Carrots.
I modified the recipe up by using olive oil instead of butter, and adding garlic too. I love garlic, so I tend to add it to most vegetable dishes! I also used multi-colored carrots to make the dish look pretty, which makes it perfect the the Thanksgiving table.
Couscous & Cranberry Stuffed Acorn Squash
This is the perfect time of year for making winter squash. One of my favorite winter squash is Acorn squash because the size is perfect for our family. This weekend I made this Couscous & Cranberry Stuffed Acorn Squash for dinner, and it was delicious.
Couscous makes a nice base for stuffing a squash because it has a nice nutty flavor which goes well with the squash. I used Israel couscous, which is larger and has a chewy consistency that is closer to pasta. To add to the seasonal nature of the dish I stirred in some dried cranberries.
Roasted Sweet Potatoes & Pears
This recipe for Roasted Sweet Potatoes and Pears would make a great side dish for Thanksgiving!
I used to think I didn’t like sweet potatoes, because the only way I’d ever eaten them was the typical Thanksgiving side dish where they are covered with brown sugar and marshamallows. That dish is way too sweet for me, but it turns out that I love sweet potatoes when are served so that their natural flavor shines through. Now I eat roasted, bake or sauteed sweet potatoes all the time, and enjoy them quite a bit.

Fall is the best time of year for pies. But making a pie can be a time consuming process when you do everything from scratch, so it is something I only do for special holidays. But for everyday enjoyment an effortless pie like this Mini Caramel Apple Pie is perfect!
These pies are a great size for a quick snack, because they are easy to make and don’t get the whole kitchen messy. The secret to making these tiny pies is to combine a few pre-made ingredients for maximum flavor.  To make my pies I used Keebler® Ready Crust® Mini Graham Cracker Pie Crust for the crust, Dannon® Greek Yogurt, Light & Fit® Greek Apple Pie Yogurt for the filling and Reddi-wip® to top it all off.

Football season is in full swing, and my husband and I are enjoying all the action and excitement! We don’t get to many games in person, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a fun Homegate experience while we watch our favorite teams. This past weekend we created a Japanese themed Football party featuring a Japanese Inspired Bloody Mary and Sushi.
This made a great change from our typical pizza and chicken wings, and added some spice to the games! Football might not be a big sport in Japan, but that doesn’t mean we can’t mix the two cultures together. Bloody Mary is a cocktail that has lots of variations, so it just lends itself to experimentation. I didn’t want to spend a lot of time putting together our Homegate, so I used a LiDestri Bloody Mary cocktail as a base.

Fall is the perfect time to try out some new recipe using favorite flavors, like this Pecan Cookie Pie.
This pie is like a big chewy cookie, filled with M&M’s® Pecan Pie and pecans for a delicious seasonal dessert. To make the pie nice and moist I used Mott’s® Apple Sauce instead of butter in the recipe, which makes for a soft and sweet cookie pie with tasty M&M’s® sprinkled throughout.Find more recipe ideas and enter the MARS Bake in the Fun Sweepstakes at the end of the post!

I am always looking for quick breakfast ideas, like the new Quaker® Real Medleys® Yogurt Cups. These are a convenient and easy shelf stable yogurt product, that combines granola, fruit and yogurt, all in a single serving size. I combined the Yogurt Cups with a simple plum and cherry compote for a delicious and easy Yogurt Parfait, perfect for breakfast.
As soon as I heard about these Yogurt Cups I knew I had to try them because I love the idea of shelf stable yogurt. I have seen nothing like this before, and headed to Walmart to pick up some of the flavors.
Lemon Tassies
Lately I’ve been making mostly mini-sized desserts – like these bite sized Lemon Tassies.
Small desserts are perfect for me, because I am trying to eat better and lose weight, but I can’t give up desserts completely! So small desserts let me have a little bit, but not too much.
Bite sized desserts are also perfect for a party, and are a great way to let guests sample a variety of treats. These tarts have a pastry crust filled with a sweet homemade lemon curd.

It is no secret that the average American diet is not very healthy. But few of us probably realize how bad it is – Most Americans only meet the U.S. Dietary Guidelines for proper nutrition about 7 days out of the year! That is only 2% of the time, which is quite a disturbing statistic. And one of the most important things we can do to make our meals better is to include more fresh fruits and vegetables.
Easy Steak Fajitas with Redd’s Apple Ale

I love to cook outside on the grill whenever I can. It is less cleanup for me, and the food just tastes better cooked over an open flame – especially steak! Last week I made these Easy Steak Fajitas for a quick and delicious summer meal.
The secret ingredient in these fajitas is the marinade. I marinaded them in Redd’s Apple Ale, which gave the meat a delicious subtle flavor. The enzymes in the alcohol help break down the tough fibers in the meat, making it more tender and giving it more flavor. I picked Apple Ale for the marinade because it is one of my favorites, and the sweetness of the apple flavor makes it extra good.
Tuna Stuffed Zucchini Boats
Tuna is one of my favorite sources of protein, since it is so quick and easy to make. I recently made these tasty Tuna Stuffed Zucchini Boats, which are perfect for a lunch or quick dinner.
This time of year I always have more zucchini than I know what to do with! So I like to experiment with new and different ways to serve it. I used Bumble Bee Prime Fillet Albacore Tuna with Jalapenos & Olive Oil to make the Stuffed Zucchini Boats. The Prime Fillet Albacore Tuna combines the highest quality albacore tuna with the finest, restaurant-inspired ingredients. It is convenient and nutritious, and is available in 2.5oz pouches or 5oz cans.
